access here. he was the only pool reporter from the football writers association of america allowed inside the superdome to witness the 49ers' final walk-through. after practice, matt shared with us what he saw. >> reporter: the lights will never shine more brightly on the 49ers than sunday in super bowl xlvii. saturday the 49ers had their final preparation, a walk-through at the super deal. what caught jim harbaugh's eye is the lights seemed frighter than the regular season. the 49ers had an ape-minute walk-through and hundreds of family and friends attended. the players signed autographs and posed for pictures with family members. the most popular guy was colin kaepernick. through all of this newfound stardom jim harbaugh says colin kaepernick has remained the same player, completely unwavered. in that says he feels the 49ers as a whole have fostered that.

hub there were about 950 tickets left, ranging from $1,000 for a seat in the nosebleed section, yes, $1,000, to $10,000 for a seat in a suite. super bowl celebration is are helping day water businesses boost their bottom line. grocery stores, bars, restaurants reporting higher than usual sales this weekend. one store says sales are up more than 30% over last year at the same time. some restaurants are so busy they've had to turn down catering orders. bars are opening early, some as early as 8:00 tomorrow morning for people who want to start super bowl celebrations very early. >> it's going to be live, energy, just going off the hook. niners everywhere. screaming, shouting, chanting. singing. it's going to be great. >> san francisco city officials want people to remember to celebrate responsibly. they don't want a repeat of the

celebrations that turned violent after the giants' world series win last year. niner fans gathered at hp pavilion, not to watch football, to cheer on the sharks. the sharks went into tonight undefeated and it was a nail biter. kimberly terry is at the shark tank with a look at game and the niner connection. >> reporter: hello, inside the shark tank it was a standard teal mixed in with 49er red. win or lose fans say it's an exciting weekend for the bay area. going in the sharks were the only undefeated team in the nhl. despite their loss to the predators they are one point behind the top team in the league. >> it's outstanding to watch a team that you support and back all the way and they're doing an outstanding job. couldn't ask for more. >> reporter: the sharks aren't the only bay area team thriving. first the giants clinched their second world series title in three years. the niners made it into the super bowl. >> it's just awesome right now. everything's going great. it's the bay area's year.

>> i can't wait for tomorrow. i can't wait for the 49ers. this is their year. what a year to follow up with the giants. we could have two teams in one city. >> reporter: many shark fans are also 49er fans. and combined the two looks ahead of tomorrow's super bowl. >> it's huge. everything's going down to this weekend. i mean, i'm talking out of this world. >> reporter: and that excitement is spilling onto the ice. sharks players cheer on other bay area teams and just hope to be part of the magic. >> it's been great, you know. i'm a huge giants fan. san francisco giants fan. baseball fan. to see them win. now to see the 49ers in the super bowl. i think they're going to win. they've done a great job. you know, i think it's extra motivation for us to make a splash here as well. >> reporter: the sharks will be on the road in anaheim tomorrow. some players say they will be watching the super bowl. live in san jose, kimberly terry, nbc bay area news.

>> stay with nbc bay area for complete super bowl coverage. both on air and online. including wall-to-wall coverage following the game. we have a team of reporters on the ground in new orleans and they'll have reaction from the players, coaches, and of course the fans. there is new information tonight in the death of a 13-year-old girl whose naked body was found in a fairfield park. the girl's foster family had reported her missing thursday. a man found her body early the next morning. monty francis spoke to that man and a friend of the victim and has the very latest. >> reporter: police say this is a homicide case and they have questioned several people. but at this point, they have not identified any suspects. you can see here behind me a memorial is growing at the park where the girl's body was found. and tonight, the girl's friends are in disbelief and in despair. >> i miss you i miss her. >> reporter: kayla silva can't believe her friend is gone.

the victim just 13. and a student at green valley middle school. kayla says they performed together in a school talent show. >> we sang together. when people sing together, they share souls. i shared my soul with her. >> reporter: her grief follows the shocking discovery of her friend's body friday morning. >> i told them, there's a body in the park. >> reporter: eric may is a homeless man who found the girl's body in a parking lot at allen whit park. >> it looked like she was dragged out of a car and thrown there like a bag of trash. it made me sick. once i realized that was a human being and that was a body. >> reporter: may says the girl's body was naked, face-down, no signs of trauma. he checked for signs of life and there were none. >> all the life was drained out of her. she was gone. but i had to touch her, i had to know. >> reporter: may says he immediately flagged down a police officer. fairfield police confirmed may's story and say he is not

considered a suspect in the case. investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from the park and elsewhere for clues. >> there's cameras all over the city that we're looking at, both near and outside the park and the general area. >> reporter: meanwhile the community is horrified. tiffany hawkins, 13-year-old daughter emily, attends the same middle school as the victim. >> i used to let my daughter walk to the doughnut shop. i'm not going to let her go anywhere alone anymore. >> reporter: the girl has been identified. the police at this point are not releasing her name because the identification of her family has been complicated because she was a foster child. also, the coroner has not released her cause of death. in fairfield tonight, monty francis, nbc bay area news. oakland's popular first friday event last night turned deadry when an argument ended in gunfire. the shooting happened just before 11:00 near the intersection of 20th and telegraph avenue. police say two groups of people who were downtown for the

monthly art walk got into an argument in a parking lot. an 18-year-old oakland man was killed. a 17-year-old boy and two women in their 20s were wounded. police say the women were not part of the fight and were hilt by stray bullets. police are urging the dozens of people who were nearby at that time to come forward with information. so far, no arrests. next at 11, the controversial photo the white house just released to silence some skeptics. >> a warning for twitter users. we'll explain that. we're seeing temperatures in the 40s around the bay area tonight. plus some patchy, thick fog already setting up around santa rosa and outside livermore. that's one of the things we're watching tonight. tomorrow, looks like we could see a warmer finish to the weekend. we'll show you that in the forecast coming up. our coverage of the 49ers' quest for six continues. we'll hear from some football legends who weigh in on what's most important the night before the super bowl. as we count down to the big game, 49er fever is spreading. rancho elementary school in

the white house has released a photo of the president firing a gun two days before he's scheduled to discuss his new gun control proposals. in a recent interview president obama said he enjoyed skeet shooting with guests at camp david. after being asked for proof his press secretary released this photo, taken back in august. the president plans to visit minneapolis on monday to promote his plan to battle gun violence. that's because minneapolis has

launched a youth violence initiative and gun control mess sures that have seen some success. back here at home, one south bay community is on a mission to make its streets safer. representatives from the city of san jose nonprofit the neighborhoods hosted the fifth annual crime and gang prevention couple admit today. workshop topics range from neighborhood safety to giving gang members a way out of that lifestyle. organizers say about 300 people showed up. >> and we in fact have been recognized nationwide for how engaged our community is. the mayor's gang prevention task force has been recognized nationally too. in san jose we work together with everyone. all the agencies, the police, the counties, the district attorney's office, schools. >> san jose has seen a spike in major crimes, including its highest homicide rate in 20 years. city leaders hope more community members will attend events like this one to happen reverse that trend. twitter is asking people to change their password. the company says hackers may have gained access to information on about 250,000

rolling out the red carpet for football legends and celebrities. we asked several super bowl champions of the past about their thoughts of the niners for the big one tomorrow. >> the night before the game, what's the most important thing for the guys to keep in mind as they go to sleep tonight? >> they should be disappearing today. too much anxiety can be built up on saturday. horrible tonight they're in their routine, so it's like another -- in a way, another game. >> if i wasn't working, i wouldn't be here. i don't like going to the games. it's special for them. it's good to see the 49ers back in there. >> thinking back to your time at stanford, the night before a wig ga big game, what did coach harbaugh do? >> never kept it too serious the night before. i don't know quite how the niners operate. but i know at stanford we watched a movie, there was usually some joke or gag reel at the end, got a snack, went to

the grocery store. highs close to 70 in new orleans. right now, 56 and you've got that humid breeze coming off the gulf coast there. southwest wind at 7 miles per hour. bay area, the pacific ocean cooler than the gulf of mexico. you don't get muggy conditions overnight. 40s to low 50s around the bay area now. what's interesting, not only the sea breeze bringing in moisture at lower elevations and the across the bay tonight, but fog has already set up across parts of the north bay down to one mile visibility in santa rosa and in the tri-valley that fog could get thick before skies start to clear out heading into the afternoon. all the clouds we started with to start the weekend are now moving out of central california into southern california, seeing showers tonight. this upper-level system made for a cloudy start to the weekend. as it starts to move east it should open the door at least for more inland sunshine during the afternoon. as winds continue to stay onshore along the coast, we'll see some areas of drizzle along the coastline tomorrow. cool around san francisco and

the coast. inland a better chance of getting upper 50s to low 60s for tomorrow. as you wake up tomorrow morning, areas of fog and low clouds, maybe even drizzle or mist around the peninsula for the early part of the day. as we head through the afternoon, you can see less cloud cover. still on the coast, sea breeze keeping those low clouds there. this looks more like june where you get fog with sunshine inland. hopefully as we're celebrating the 49ers' super bowl win by 8:00 tomorrow morning, patchy low clouds spilling back in across the bay. tonight, 30s and 40s outside. should not be too chilly thanks to low clouds moving in, acting like a blanket overnight. tomorrow afternoon, numbers in the low 60s around san jose. cooler back across the inner bay and coastline. 63 pleasanton. upper 50s to near 60 in san francisco. 62 in santa rosa. mid 50s on the coast for the breezes and clouds to keep things cool to finish off the weekend. inland spots will be warming up a little bit tomorrow. more so into monday and tuesday. things start to cool off middle
